We just returned from a long day of walking through Berlin.. I was manager, and also responsible for the map (A) .. That wasn't a great idea, as I basically walked a pretty big detour haha! Anyway, instead of 20 minutes we walked about 1,5 hours (A) before arriving at the Holocaust Memorial Center in the middle of Berlin. That was really impressive! When you walk between those stones you really feel like you're on your own (obviously a feeling the architect wanted you to get) and because there are a lot of people in there, you also don't know what's coming.. Every time when you turn a different direction, there is a chance you bump into some other people as you can't see anything else but stones. It also makes you feel fear. Anyway, after walking around for 20 minutes we went into the information center, that was so impressive. I've learned so much new stuff about the second world war, mostly the death camps. There were different rooms and in one room there were postcards and letters which they found in the death camps, they are showed on the ground, so that if you want to read that, you have to bow your head (and that means you honor the Jews that past away). After spending one hour in the info center I was kicked outside by my classmates, as I was obviously the only one who was that interested.. Next up was the Topography of Terror.. That is basically the Gestapo Headquarters, SS and Luftwaffe buildings.. We got a tour there as well, was also very interesting.. She was really in love with facts I reckon haha.. After the Topography of Terror we went to the location of Hilters Bunker and Robbert explained what used to be below our feet etc. By the time he was finished talking we've reached 4:30 in the afternoon and we decided to go back home, this was a whole trip on it's own as the metro wasn't driving, so we had to change a couple of times to find out that after 30 minutes of travelling we were at the exact same spot as where we had started. Right now we're back in the hostel, dinner will be served around 7-ish.. After that I'll have an evaluation with the teachers about today and then it's time for some chilling. Tomorrow we're gonna visit concentration camp Sachenhausen, so I need to be fit for that.
